Title III, Part B
Strengthening Historically Black Colleges and Universities Program
Title III, Part B, a program of the U. S. Department of Education, is funded by the Higher Education Act of 1965 (as amended). This program provides financial assistance to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to establish or strengthen their physical plants, financial management, academic resources, and endowment-building capacity. More specifically, the Title III Program assists institutions like Lawson State Community College in funding activities that will help the College to fulfill its mission.
The Fostering Undergraduate Talent by Resources for Education Act (FUTURE)
The Fostering Undergraduate Talent by Resources for Education (FUTURE) Act makes permanent $255 million in annual funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and other Minority Serving Institutions (MSI), enables disclosure of tax return information for the administration of federal student aid programs, and increases Pell Grant funding. In this allotment, Title III Part F replaced the prior SAFRA funding allotment.
