Business and Information Technologies' Accreditation
ACBSP- The Business and Information Technologies Department has been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP - Region 3) since 1997. ACBSP is a global business accreditation organization that provides specialized accreditation for business degree programs. The accreditation applies to the business programs offered on both campuses (Birmingham and Bessemer). Many of the criteria used in the evaluation process are related to the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program continuous improvement processes. The Business and Information Technologies' programs were evaluated on Leadership, Strategic Planning, Student and Stakeholders Focus, Student Learning and Performance, Faculty and Staff, and Educational Business Process Management. The educational quality of Lawson State's Business programs was determined by a variety of inputs in the educational process, the educational activities related to the teaching/learning process and the outcomes of these processes. The mission of ACBSP is to establish, promote, and recognize educational standards that contribute to the continuous improvement of business education and through the process of accreditation, to recognize business schools and programs that adhere to these standards.
