Lawson State Community College will host United Ability for its 2024 Hiring Expo, Friday, October 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The expo, held in the Arthur Shores Fine Arts building on the Birmingham campus, is free and open to the public.
"This job fair is more than just an event," Katie Dumais, director of employment services at United Ability, recently told WBRC-TV. "It's a celebration of the skills and talents that people with disabilities bring to the workforce. We believe in creating a roadmap to success for all, and we're excited to partner with local employers who share our vision of an inclusive workforce."
The hiring expo is being held as National Disability Employment Month (NDEAM) kicks off nationwide. Throughout October, organizations are rallying behind the theme, "Access to good jobs for all." The annual observance, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, educates the public about disability topics and celebrates the contributions of American workers with disabilities.
