Lawson State Students have been named to the All-Alabama Academic Team for 2024
Two students from Lawson State Community College, Seth McCoy and Jarriona Gaymon,
have been named to the All-Alabama Academic Team for 2024. They received this recognition
at the 2024 All-Alabama Academic Team Recognition Program on April 19th.
Seth McCoy's journey at Lawson began in the Adult Education program, where he earned
his GED/High School Diploma before joining the Business Program. There, he achieved
a perfect 4.0 GPA. He has earned the Presidential Scholarship at UAB, where he will
pursue his bachelor's degree starting Fall 2024.
Jarriona Gaymon, hailing from Sanford, Florida, has shone as both a student and a
volleyball athlete, maintaining a 3.9 GPA. She plans to transfer to Florida State
University for her bachelor's degree with aspirations of becoming a Registered Nurse.
Dr. Cyrus Vance, Dean of Students at Lawson State, praised their achievements: "These
students are a great example of the talent and success we have here at Lawson State.
It is wonderful to see them excel on this level, and we are eager to witness all their
future accomplishments."
