Nursing Accreditation Extended
Lawson State Community College has received official notification from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) that its Board of Commissioners granted continuing accreditation to its Associate Degree and Practical Nursing programs. ACEN is the leading authority in nursing education accreditation, and it provides specialized accreditation for all levels of nursing education and transition-to-practice programs located in the United States, U.S. Territories, and internationally.
Accreditation is a significant milestone for academic excellence in nursing education. The accreditation process involved a comprehensive review of the programs including the resources, faculty, students, curriculum, and program outcomes.
"Continued accreditation signifies more than just a seal of approval; it is a testament to our commitment to providing high-quality education and student support services. This accreditation not only validates our efforts but also inspires us to pursue even greater accomplishments in the future," said Dr. Katrina Swain, Nursing Chairperson.
Lawson State Community College upholds a steadfast commitment to continuous improvement and adherence to the highest educational standards.
"We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who has contributed to this ongoing success of our programs, our dedicated faculty who excel in teaching and excellence, our supportive staff who tirelessly assist our students, and our community partners who share in our mission," said Dr. Cynthia Anthony, President of Lawson State Community College.
"With the reaffirmation of accreditation, Lawson State Community College's nursing programs are well-positioned to continue making a positive impact in the lives of our students and the broader community we serve" said Dr. Sherika Derico, Associate Dean, Health Professions.
The next scheduled evaluation visit will be in the Fall of 2031.
