Lawson State art students host The Blue Tape Art Show
Lawson State Community College Graphic Art Communications Students along with the Computer Aided Drafting and Design Students will host their annual Blue Tape Art Show on Sunday April 21, 2024. The show will offer a different perspective on traditional art and allow the viewer to see creativity in a whole new light. Graphic illustrations created in blue tape will be on display throughout the building.
"Visitors to this unique art show can expect to see creative works of art rendered entirely with blue painter's tape. They have been working hard to conceptualize and create artwork that is limited to tape, and a craft knife to shape it, said Roosevelt Williams, Graphic Art Communications Instructor. "This type of art form is very different from the digital platforms that most of them are used to, so this is indeed a challenge."
The students are working hard to bring pieces of art to life, like you've never witnessed before.
"We hope that the Blue Tape Art Show allows others to see art in a unique way that isn't often seen and possibly allow them to become interested in Tape Art. We have been anticipating this and we hope that all of our hard work and differing ideas will pay off," said Daniel Everett, Lawson State student.
The Blue Tape Art Show will take place on Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Ethel Hall Building on the Bessemer Campus. Industry professionals looking for fresh talent and high school students interested in an affordable way to begin creative careers are encouraged to attend and meet with the graphic art communications, and the computer aided drafting and Design students and instructors. The event is free and open to the public.
