Lawson Adult Ed Partners Help Transform Lives

The Adult Education Department at Lawson State Community College recently hosted a Community Partner Appreciation Luncheon to honor and thank our valued community partners. These partnerships are essential to the program and to the students served by Lawson State, ultimately enabling the college to extend adult education services into communities. Partners also assist in reaching those who may face transportation and other barriers.

HIM ministries award winners"We were thrilled to present the Community Partner of the Year award to Hope Inspired Ministries (HIM)!" said Charlette White, director of adult education at Lawson State. "With five service locations, Hope Inspired Ministries (pictured at right) enrolled 358 students this past year, each earning a certificate—a meaningful step toward their goals."

Overall, each partners makes a meaningful impact, she added.

"Community partners play a crucial role by providing resources, expertise, and helping to broaden our organization’s reach and impact," said Ms. White. "Their collaboration helps bridge gaps in services and improves access to opportunities such as education, transportation, and workforce skills training."

Other partners honored during the event included: The Onin Group, HiCA, Jefferson County Jail, Birmingham Municipal Court, Birmingham Housing Authority, Alabama Workforce Training Center, Alabama Career Center, The Dannon Project, Community Care Development Network, The Foundry, The Department of Human Resources, Jefferson County Board of Education, Birmingham City Board of Education, Bessemer City Schools, and Homewood City Schools.

"Recognizing these partners builds trust and strengthens relationships," Ms. White said. "Doing so often leads to other partnerships, all while showcasing Lawson's community-focused approach to collaboration."
