More than 76 students have completed the Medication Aide Certification program at Lawson State Community College since it launched in early 2024. The college recently recognized those who finished the 100-hour program.
Medication Aide Program Completers Honored at Lawson State
Lawson State Community College recently celebrated its inaugural class of Medication Aide Certification (MAC) Program completers. The December 2 ceremony, held at the Birmingham campus's ACATT building, honored 76 students who completed the comprehensive 100-hour program, which included 60 hours of theory and 40 hours of clinical training.
Grant Cockrell, Dean of Workforce Development and Career Technical Education, highlighted the growing importance of healthcare certification programs at the college. Dr. Cynthia T. Anthony, President of Lawson State Community College, followed with an inspiring address to the graduates and their families, emphasizing the college's dedication to workforce preparation.
"Lawson State Community College continues its mission of preparing qualified professionals for our nation's growing healthcare industry," Dr. Anthony said.
Other Lawson State leaders, including Workforce Development Specialist Jondra Caddell and MAC program instructor Tiffany Watkins joined Dr. Bruce Crawford, Vice President of Instructional Services, in congratulating the students on their perseverance.
A testament to seeing things through
In his closing remarks, Dean Cockrell emphasized the college's commitment to expanding workforce development opportunities in healthcare.
The program's completion marks a significant milestone for these students, equipping them with the qualifications needed to take the Medication Aide Certification Examination and pursue continued career growth.
"You saw this through," he said to the students. "What you have achieved is a testament to the fact that no matter what you set your mind to, you can accomplish. Don't let this be the end of your journey."
