Cyber Security (Transfer Option Concentration)

Cyber Security is an Area of Concentration that falls under Liberal Arts and General Studies at varying 4-year colleges. At the two-year level, it should not be confused with declaring a major; rather, it is a program track that is recognized by Alabama Transfers for the specific purpose of transferring to a four-year college. Upon completion of this course of study, students are awarded an Associate's degree that is transferable. With an Associate degree, you plan to study Cyber Security for 2 years and then transfer to a 4-year college to finish your Bachelor's degree. Popular jobs for Criminal Justice graduates include information security analyst, information security specialist, digital forensic examiner, IT auditor, and more. While pursuing your degree, you will study aspects of cyber security theory and practice.

Benefits of Choosing a Career in the Cyber Security

One of the best advantages of securing your 2-year Associates  transfer degree in Cyber Secruity is that you will be able to transfer up to 64 credits to your 4-year college of choice. In doing so, you will enter that college as a Junior and complete your 4-year degree in another two years.  Upon graduating, you have many career paths you can follow in the computer security fields.

Bachelor's prepared students can also segway and study cyber security, online crimes or secure higher degrees (Masters, Doctorate) and work for state law enforcement agencies or federal agencies as high up as the CIA or FBI.

For Cyber Security majors considering entering the workforce, they can expect competitive earnings. Experienced Information Security Analyst make (on average) $102,000 in the U.S. with entry level jobs paying less.  Forensic Scientist make 61K on average.

Our Associate of Arts (AA) two-year degree is 60-64 credits.

All social and behavioral AA and AS degrees are backed and protected by Alabama Transfers (Learn More).
