Benefits of Choosing Cosmetology

Students in the Cosmetology program have opportunities to network with industry partners to learn of latest trends and to participate in community service and outreach opportunities. The program provides opportunity for students to gain practical experience through on the job learning and instructor supervised live work labs.  Graduates are prepared to take the Alabama Board of Cosmetology and Barbering licensure exam.

After practicing on myself and others, I realized that I liked to make people more confident in themselves.  With the option to choose any dream imagined, I chose to pursue a degree in cosmetology at Lawson State

We offer every student the opportunity to learn in a real world setting which allows them to explore their creativity and identify specialized areas they may choose to further explore as a licensed practitioner.

Program Requirements

This program offers a Certificate and an Associate in Occupational Technologies Degree in Cosmetology with a minor in Business Management.

Associate in Occupational Technologies Degree: 72 Credit Hours

This degree is designed for students seeking to become multi-skilled technicians. The AOT includes both a primary technical specialty and a secondary technical specialty.
