State Leads the Way in Alternative Fuels Training
JANUARY 2009 - “The only
school in Alabama nationally certified for alternative
fuels training” will be the lead-in for
tonight’s FOXe Report (FOX 6 TV) featuring
Lawson State’s Alabama Center for Automotive
Excellence (ACAE). The College recently became
the newest member of the National Alternative
Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC), a national
leader in promoting America’s dependence
on foreign oil. The NAFTC is the only nationwide
alternative fuel vehicle and advanced technology
vehicle training organization in the United
States. There are 38 programs nationwide and
Lawson State’s ACAE offers the only program
in Alabama.
“Dr. Ward and the college
are to be congratulated with his initiative
to move this program forward in the state,”
said Mark Bentley, executive director of the
Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition. “Lawson
State will be able to provide training to fleets,
municipalities and to promote the use of alternative
fuels.” Tommy Hobbs, business and industry
liaison, accepted the NAFTC membership plaque
on behalf of the college this past December.
Today's FOXe Report airs at 6:00
p.m. and will repeat on Good Day Alabama in
the morning and on a weekend newscast. The segment
can also be accessed at www.myfoxal.com
under As Seen on TV. Hobbs, Bentley and Tom
Berryman, director of the ACAE were interviewed
for the program.
