The Lady Cougars 2018 Volleyball Season

Volleyball Notable Accomplishments:

-Over the past 2 seasons, the Lawson State volleyball program has broken many records.
-2017 - first winning season, most wins in a season & won both matches and sets from teams Lawson have never beaten before. Overall record 18-13 & Conference record of 7-10. Placed 6th in the conference and advanced in the playoffs.
-2018 - 2nd winning season, most wins in a season & won both matches and sets from teams Lawson has never beaten before.
Overall record 28-10 & Conference record of 13-7 (first winning conference record). Placed 3rd in the conference after the regular season. 

-Advanced to the semi finals of the 2018 District L/M Tournament and were the Runner-Up. 
-The current sophomores have won more games than any other team in program history. 
- five of seven sophomores on team will graduate this December 2018.

The Lawson State volleyball program is coming off their best season in program history. The Lady Cougars will have six sophomores returning for the 2018 season with an added sophomore transfer, Lexi Byrd. The returners include Erin Test (L), Sarah Warren (S), Sydni Bolden (DS), Aja Amison (DS), Jazmine Green (DS) and Andrea Drake (MH).  

Coaches, Aubrey Wiley and Jamie Gill, traveled all over the state of Alabama and surrounding states to find 9 new players to complete their 2018 roster. The incoming freshmen bring talent both on the court and in the classroom. These players include: Mikayla Koins (Danville, AL), Makendra Sparks (Columbus, GA), Chasity Smith (Newborn, GA), Jamila Wilson (Pelham, AL), Katearia Cole (Montevallo, AL), TaKhera Sanders (Harvest, AL), Rylee Loveday (Huntsville, AL), Mekaila Hill (Birmingham, AL) and Monae Rowser (Birmingham, AL). The recruits represent many high schools including: Danville, Harris County, Eastside, Pelham, Montevallo, Sparkman, Madison County, Clay-Chalkville & Parker. 

The Lady Cougars have a tough schedule this season and start it off on Friday, August 24th, as they play in the Snead State Tournament in Snead, AL. Their first home match will be September 12th against Coastal Alabama South. Please come out and support your Lady Cougar volleyball team this season!!
